From Tripadvisor.com “A must in Rapid City if you like Indian/Nepalese food

Posted Date: 2014-05-20

After having a walk the night before visiting and spotting the very unassuming low key shop front we decided to give it a try. On arrival there was another group of people in and that was it. We got a bit nervous but it was too late to do a runner. So glad we didn't. My husband had a lamb rogan josh and I played safe with chicken tikka masala. We had pilau rice (massive portions - get one between 2) and a peshwari naan. I also had a mango lassi which was delicious. Staff were very attentive and offered suggestions and loads of help. We were really impressed and left a higher than normal tip. All in all a great meal and fab staff. Try it you won't be disappointed Visited May 2014

KATHMANDU BISTRO Featured in New York Times of May 13,2014. The aroma of fragrant Nepalese-influenced dishes wafts through this year-old dining spot where the décor — prayer flags, mural of western Nepal — transports diners to the Himalayas. The eight-dish lunch buffet is a big hit, as is the ginger-marinated alligator. 727 Main Street; 605-343-5070; kathmandubistro.com http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/18/travel/a-renaissance-in-rapid-city-sd.html?hpw&rref=travel&action=click&module=Search®ion=searchResults&mabReward=relbias%3Ar&url=http%3A%2F%2Fquery.nytimes.com%2Fsearch%2Fsitesearch%2F%3Faction%3Dclick%26region%3DMasthead%26pgtype%3DHomepage%26module%3DSearchSubmit%26contentCollection%3DHomepage%26t%3Dqry627%23%2Fkathmandu+bistro

Try anything at all. The food is served hot and tasty. No dull bland food here. My only regret is a language barrier between my server and I. Bread (Naan) is served with all plates. I have a dietary restriction, which did not translate well, and my server was concerned my refusal to eat the Naan meant I was unhappy with it. He package it up for me to take home, stating they do not like to bring food back to the kitchen to throw away. I loved the passion! Thank You. Visited May 2015
